HOW TO APPLY: BAF OFFICER

1. How to Apply for Joining as an Officer in BAF :

    a. Colletion of Application Form : Collect Application Form from I&SC, BAF located at Old Airport Building, Tejgaon, Dhaka. The Form can also be collected from any BAF Base/Unit (except for Dhaka area) or from District Armed Forces offices by submitting a non-refundable Pay Order/Bank Draft of Taka 600 /=(Six hundred) only in favor of “Central Non-Public Fund, BAF”. Incase of Bank Draft, the same must be changeable from any of the branch of Sonali / Rupali / Janata / Agrani Bank of Dhaka area (Dhaka Cantt, Mohahkali, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar).

    b. Online Application System : Visit website www.joinbangladeshairforce.mil.bd for online application or download android apps (JoinBAF). Click on Apply Now tab and follow the instruction as mentioned in How to Apply tab.

    c. Submission of Application Form : Application form collected from any of the above mentioned sources must be submitted to Information & Selection Centre of Bangladesh Air Force or the Recruitment Team before commencement of the test. For downloaded forms, please attach the Pay Order/Bank Draft as specified earlier to get the serial number of the application form. Please ensure that Pay Order/Bank Draft number is written properly in appropriate place of the prescribed form and the forms are properly filled in. Attach necessary documents as prescribed in the form.

2. Academic Qualification : Academic Qualification. The educational qualification for candidates of various branches will be minimum Higher Secondary Certificate or equivalent in specified discipline as shown below. However, under special circumstances Air Headquarters shall have the prerogative to enroll direct entry candidates, if necessary, for meeting emergency requirements.

Engineering Minimum GPA 4.5 in both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Science with Mathematics (Math) as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree in any Engineering discipline as decided by Air HQ (minimum CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from any recognized university/ equivalent.
d. Logistic Minimum GPA 4.5 in both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Science with Mathematics (Math) as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree in required discipline (CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent
e. Administration Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC & HSC/ ‘O’ & ‘A’ level with minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree from any discipline (minimum CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
f. Air Traffic Control (ATC) Minimum GPA 4.5 in both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Science with Mathematics (Math) as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science /‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree with Physics/Math (CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
g. Air Defence Weapons Control (ADWC) Minimum GPA 4.5 in both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Science with Mathematics (Math) as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree with Physics/Math (CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
h. Education N/A Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor and Masters Degree in required discipline as decided by Air HQ (minimum CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
j. Legal N/A Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor/Masters Degree in Law (minimum CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
k. Finance Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/Business Studies with Math/Accounting (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Math/Accounting, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/Business Studies with Math/Accounting/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Math/Accounting, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree in Commerce (minimum CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.
l. Meteorology Minimum GPA 4.5 in both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in Science with Mathematics (Math) as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade A)/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam/equivalent. Minimum GPA 4.5 in both SSC and HSC in Science/‘O’ & ‘A’ level with Physics and Math, minimum letter grade C in all the subjects of both the exam. Bachelor Degree with Physics/Math (CGPA 3.00 in the scale of 4.00/2nd class) from a recognized university/equivalent.

Note :

  1. The educational qualification for direct entry candidate in a specific branch will be minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent from any recognized university/college/institute specified discipline.
  2. Candidates appearing in the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination will also be eligible to apply if they can submit a certificate from the Head of the respective institute to the effect that they have reasonable chance of passing the examination with the pre-requisite result.

3. Nationality : Bangladeshi (Male/female).

4. Marital Status :

    • Regular Entry : Unmarried.
    • For Direct Entry/SPSSC : Unmarried/Married (Age is above 26 years for male & for female above 23 years).

5. Age :

    • Regular Entry : 161/2 to 21 years (without affidavit).
    • For Direct Entry/SPSSC : Upto 30 years for Direct Entry & Upto 35 years for Special Purpose Short Service Commission (SPSSC).

6. Height :

    • General Duties (Pilot/Navigator) : Minimum 162.56 cm (64″) for male/female.
    • Others : Minimum 162.56 cm (64″) for male and minimum 157 cm (62″) for female.
    • Eye Sight : 6/6, normal vision.
    • Weight : As per age & height.
    • For Female Candidates : No sign of pregnancy.

7. Disqualifications :

    • Withdrawn/discharged from Army/ Navy/ Air force or Government Service.
    • Two times screened out/two times rejected from ISSB. (Candidates screened out once/rejected once can apply).
    • Convicted by any Court of Law.
    • Rejected by CMB or Appeal Medical Board.
    • Persons with physical disability or congenital deformity are not acceptable.

8. Documents required to be attached with the application form :

    • Attested copies of all academic certificates, testimonials and marks sheets.
    • Nationality certificate with marital status and permanent address from Union Parishad/Municipal Chairman/Ward Commissioner.
    • Character Certificate from Class-1 gazette officer.
    • Three copies of recent passport size photographs duly attested by a Class-I Gazetted Officer.
    • Birth Certificate/ National ID card duly attested by a Class-I Gazetted Officer.
    • Character Certificate from head of the last educational institute.
    • Nationality Certificate attested by District Commissioner for tribal.
    • No Objection Certificate for the serving candidates.
    • Attested copies of certificates of sports achievement at District/Divisional level (if any).
    • Attested copy of Freedom Fighters Certificate by Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (For the dependents of Freedom Fighters).
    • 9 inch x 4 inch Back Envelop with permanent address.

9. Details of Tests :

    • Preliminary Written Test (IQ, Physics, Math & English).
    • Preliminary Medical Check-Up.
    • Preliminary Viva Voce.
    • ISSB Tests.
    • Pilot Aptitude Test (For GD(P) Candidates only.)
    • Final Medical Test by Central Medical Board.
    • Cadets’ Final Selection Board.

10. Final Selection : Final selection will be made by Air Headquarters in accordance to vacancy and other existing regulations.

11. Initial Training : Candidates of regular courses will undergo three years pre-commissioning training. For special short courses (Short Service Commission and Special Purposes Short Service Commission), candidates will undergo six months of training. On completion of successful training, all flight cadets will be awarded the rank of Flying Officer or as applicable on probation for the prescribed period.
