Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc

Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc was born on 14 February 1962. He has completed his early education from Notre Dame College, Dhaka. He joined Bangladesh Air Force Academy on 16 March 1980 and graduated from BAF Academy in June 1982. He was commissioned in Bangladesh Air Force on 19 June 1982 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch.

The Air Officer is a qualified flying instructor and an accomplished Fighter Pilot and an active flyer. He flew various types of aircraft, which include PT-6, Fouga, F-6, F-7, F-7 BG, F-7MB, A-5, MiG-29 YAK-130 and SU-30 MKI (A). He had the unique opportunity of commanding three Fighter Squadrons of Bangladesh Air Force and he had been the pioneer Squadron Commander of the coveted Mig-29 Fighter Squadron.

The Air Officer attended a number of courses at home and abroad. He is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College in Bangladesh, Royal Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College in Malaysia and National Defence University in China.

The Air Officer is a widely travelled person. He visited a number of countries including Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, DR Congo, Georgia, India, KSA, Liberia, Malaysia, Mali, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Ukraine and USA.

The Air Officer served in a number of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments including DS (Air) at Staff College, SI (Air) Staff College, Director Air Training, Director Air Operations, Director Plans and Air Secretary at Air Headquarters, Base Commander of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Sreshto Matiur Rahman, Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabondhu Kurmitola, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Administration) and Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations).

The Air Officer is happily married to Yasmeen Zaman, and blessed with one son and one daughter. He is an ardent reader and a keen golfer.
