What types of academic training are provided during training period?
-Officers receive BA/BSC(Aero)/ BBS training under National University depending on the requirement of BAF and performance of the trainee. On the other hand, an Airmen is prepared to be an expertise on his respective trade which subsequently helps him to earn a diploma degree.
Can an officer or airmen go for higher study in his service tenure?
-Yes. One can obviously go for higher study in his service tenure after a specified length of service with prior permission from the Authority.
What else degree(s) one can earn during his service?
- Graduate officers can go for Masters course during their Staff college course and may earn an MDS (Masters in Defence Study) degree subject to successful completion of the course. Similarly, there is a provision of M Phil degree during a National Defence Course in National Defence College.
What is the maximum age at which one can apply in Bangaldesh Air Force?

If i join baf as an Airman, can I later become an Officer?
-Yes, one can sit for the exam for as an officer, subject to certain conditions. Besides, there are other scopes also to be an officer.
During training period, can a trainee change his branch?
-No. One cannot change his branch unless the authority finds him/her incapable of coping up with the professional requirement of respective branch. This scope is given to suitable candidates only depending on the in individual performance and vacancy of the desired branch.
Does an Officer or Airman get any bonus or overtime allowance for extra duties?
-No. Unlike other jobs in civil sectors, an uniform personnel cannot get such allowance. In Defense, one may have to work for 24 hours duty during exigencies. However, one is entitled to receive two festival bonuses in a year.
Where a trainee will be stationed during the basic training?
-Flight Cadets will stay in BAF Academy located at BAF Base Matiur Rahman, Jessore. Airmen training is conducted in Recruits Training School located at BAF Base Zahurul Huq, Chittagong. For MODC, the Basic training is conducted in MODC Training Unit, Lalmonirhat.
Can a trainee meet his/her guardians during training?
-Yes, one is allowed to meet his/her parents or guardians on a specific day.
Can any one apply online?
-Unfortunately this provision is not available at this moment. But one can download the application form from this website and submit the same to the Recruitment office prior to recruitment examination.
Can anyone retire from the service as per his desire?
-No. But one can always apply for voluntary retirement following the existing regulations. In such case, he/she will not get full pension benefits.
Does a trainee gets weekends and public holidays during training period?
-Yes, one can usually enjoy the weekends and other public holidays in the training life unless there are exigencies.

Does a Military Officer pay tax for his/her annual income?
-Yes. An officer needs to pay income tax as per the regulation of the Govt. However, tax due on his salary is returned by Govt.
What are the places of postings for a BAF officer after the basic training?
-There are about 10 BAF Bases/Units/ Installations of BAF. However most of BAF personnel are stationed at bases/ units located at Dhaka, Chittagong, Jessore, Bogra & Moulovibazar.
How long does it takes to process my application?
-For preliminary selection, the result is given within two days. But ISSB tests are conducted as per the schedule of ISSB for which one may have to wait for 2 to 3 months. Once qualified from ISSB, it takes about a month to complete all other formalities for final selection by Air HQ.
How can I check the progress of my application?
-You do not have to check the progress of your application. Air Force authority will intimate you well in time about the next course of action.
Is there any system to serve in other services/ organizations from BAF?
-You may be transferred/ deputed to any Inter Service Organizations or other organizations as per the requirement of service.
To apply for a Flight Cadet Course (FCC), do I need to wait till declaration of my HSC result?
-No. One doesn't need to wait till publishing of the result. One can apply to BAF producing his/her Testimonial/Admit card. But, the result must be intimated to BAF authority before final selection by producing a provisional certificate/mark sheet of the Higher Secondary Board.
Does A BAF pilot go for Para-Trooping/jumping course?
-Till now "No". But BAF authority may include this in the training curriculum of a flying course.
