COMMAND AND STAFF TRAINING INSTITUTE (CSTI)
  

History

To provide training to the junior and mid-level officers of BAF in command and staff jobs, JC&SS was established on 12 July 1976.  Along with the JC&SS, BAF felt the necessity of establishing a separate organization to conduct officers promotion exams through correspondence course named as ISS.  ISS started functioning wef 15 October 1980. To bring these two organizations under one unified command, finally BAF Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI) was formed on 28 April 1983.  The inception of this institute marked a new vista, the glorious step of BAF towards achieving good standard of training on wide spectrum of command and staff jobs.

Role and Task

1.    As per the approved TO&E, CSTI BAF is responsible for the following:

a.    To impart training to the officers and prepare them to perform effective command and staff duties at various levels in the Air Force and allied formation.

b.    To prepare selected officers for the staff college course.

Conclusion

Proficiency in command & staff duties plays the vital role in handling day-to-days affair in the career of an officer in BAF. CSTI, BAF aims to lay the foundation of knowledge in this regard amongst the junior/mid level officers of BAF. A sound training can help them to appreciate the correct perspective of working environment and set the tone of required level of performance. Providing such training to the officers by CSTI, BAF has already proved to be effective. This institute always strives forward and continues to provide effective training for junior/mid level officers to meet future challenges in the days ahead.
