BANGLADESH AIR FORCE CHIEF DEPARTS FOR USA

Dhaka, March 27: – Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari left Dhaka for United States of America on Thursday (27-3-2014) for an official visit to attend the “Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium (PACS)” with one entourage. During stay in USA Chief of Air Staff will take part in various briefing and conference. During his stay, he will visit different military installations including Pacific Air Force Headquarters at Pearl-Harbor, few Air Force Bases and US Air Force Academy and will observe different training, operational and maintenance activities. Besides, he will exchange views with senior military officials of USA on bilateral issues during this visit.It is expected that the visit of Chief of Air Staff will play an important role for strengthening the existing friendly relationship between Armed Forces of two countries as well as with the Air Forces of other participating countries and taking steps for development of Bangladesh Air Force.

PROMOTION TO THE DIFFERENT HIGHER RANKS OF BANGLADESH AIR FORCE

Dhaka, March 24:- A total of 49 officers of Bangladesh Air Force have been promoted to the different higher ranks today Monday (24-3-2014). Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc GD(P) adorned the officers with Air Commodore and Group Captain rank badges at Air Headquarters. Group Captain M Habib Ahsan Khan, psc, GD(P) and Group Captain Md Zahidur Rahman, nswc, psc, GD(P) are promoted to the rank of Air Commodore. Wing Commander S M Nazmul Anam, psc, GD(P), Wing Commander Md Mustafizur Rahman, psc, GD(P), Wing Commander M K Zakir Hassan, afwc, psc, ADWC and Wing Commander Mridha Md Ekramuzzaman, afwc, psc, Engineering are also promoted to the rank of Group Captain and rank awarding of the rest promoted officers is held in their respective base/unit of Bangladesh Air Force.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE MODC RECRUITS PASSING OUT PARADE HELD

Lalmonirhat, March 20:- The passing out parade of MODC recruits entry No-40 of Bangladesh Air Force was held at BAF Care and Maintenance Unit, Lalmonirhat on Thursday (20-03-2014). Air Officer Commandig of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Sreshto Matiur Rahman Air Commodore M Sayed Hossain reviewed the spectacular parade and took salute at the impressive march past as Chief Guest. Recruit (MODC) Md Shamim Islam was adjudged the best recruit among the passed out MODC recruits and awarded with the ‘Best Recruit Trophy’. Among others senior BAF officers, airmen and guardians of the recruits were present on the occasion.

AIR TO AIR FIRING OF BANGLADESH AIR FORCE STARTED

Chittagong, March 20:- A 22 day long Air to Air Live Firing Exercise of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) commenced on Thursday (20-03-2014) at Kutubdia firing range (Chittagong). A good number of BAF fighter aircraft including M1G-29B/UB, F-7BGI/FT-7BGI, F-7BG/FT-7BG and A 5IIIA/FT-6 will participate in the exercise. Besides air to air firing, different air combat maneuvers and tactics will also be practiced. The main objective of the exercise is to assess and evaluate operational capability of BAF and identify weaknesses to develop better air defence system. A good number of fighter pilots and airmen are participating in the said exercise.

BANGLADESHAIR FORCE COMMAND SAFETY CONFERENCE HELD

Dhaka, March 13:- The 37th Annual Command Safety Conference of Bangladesh Air Force was held at the BAF Falcon Hall, Dhaka today, Thursday (13-3-2014). Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari attended the conference as Chief Guest and delivered his speech. He also distributed Flight Safety trophies for maintaining best safety record. In his speech he emphasized on flight safety and said that flight safety is an evolving process and thus various air forces and aviation organizations are developing innovative concepts, methodologies and mechanisms to prevent aircraft accidents.

While undergoing rapid modernization, Bangladesh Air Force has been constantly tackling and adapting to multifaceted issues relating to flight safety, maintenance safety, risk management and technological advancement. Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Sreshto Matiur Rahman was awarded ‘Inter-Base Flight Safety Trophy’ and 11 Squadron, BAF was awarded ‘Inter- Squadron Khademul Bashar Flight Safety Trophy’ for special achievement in the year 2013.

Besides, 8 Squadron BAF was awarded with ‘Marghub Trophy’ as a winning squadron and Squadron Leader A K M Nazmus Sadat was awarded with ‘Top Gun Trophy’ as the best firer in the Annual Inter Squadron Air to Ground Armament Competition. Among others, representatives of Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Military Institute of Science & Technology, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines including senior BAF officers of Air HQ and bases were present on the occasion.

CERTIFICATE AWARD CEREMONY OF BAF FLIGHT SAFETY OFFICERS COURSE HELD  

Dhaka, March 12:- The certificate award ceremony of No. 52 Flight Safety Officers’ Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Flight Safety Institute (FSI) of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar today, Wednesday (12-3-2014). Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Maintenance) Air Vice Marshal Mazharul Islam, psc attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed certificates among the trainee officers and congratulated Officer Commanding of FSI and the trainee officers for successful completion of training.

Six officers from Bangladesh Air Force, two officers from Royal Malaysian Air Force, three officers from Royal Jordanian Air Force and one each officer from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Indian Air Force, Sri Lanka Air Force and Sudan Air Force attended the course. Flight Lieutenant Mehedi Alam Rafat, Engineering received the “Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy” for his best performance in the course. Earlier, in the welcome address, Officer Commanding of the institute Group Captain Muhammad Harunur Rashid gave a brief resume on the course curriculum. Amongst others, representatives from Sri Lankan High Commission and Royal Malaysian High Commission, Guest Lecturers from BUET and Atomic Energy Commission and senior BAF officers of Air HQ and base were present on the occasion.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE ANNUAL WINTER EXERCISE WINTEX-2014 CONCLUDES

Dhaka, March 10:- A six-day long Annual Winter Exercise “Wintex-2014” of Bangladesh Air Force concluded today, Monday (10-3-2014). The main objective of the exercise is to assess and evaluate the operational capability of the Bangladesh Air Force. It is also to identify the weakness and depict required knowledge for further perfection. All types of BAF fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, helicopters, radar squadrons including all BAF personnel took part in the exercise.

As a part of the exercise, the pilots of BAF fighter aircraft, transport aircraft and helicopters carried out load drop and Air to Ground live firing at Rasulpur Firing Range and practiced various aerial tactics including night attack and interception by the fighter aircraft. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari visited various BAF installations including BAF BBD and BAF BSR to witness different activities of WINTEX-14. To make the exercise more realistic Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Civil Defence and BNCC (Air Wing) participated in the exercise in limited scale.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE REPLACES CONTINGENT IN IVORY COAST

Dhaka, March 06:- Bangladesh Air Force is replacing its contingent at United Nations Mission (ONUCI) in Ivory Coast. Presently deployed BAF contingent in Ivory Coast will be replaced by new contingent consisting of 104 members. As part of this replacement, the first group comprising with 52 BAF members headed by Group Captain Khan Shahinul Bari left Dhaka for Ivory Coast by UN chartered aircraft on Thursday early morning.

Remaining contingent members will depart Dhaka for Ivory Coast on 13 March 2014 in second flight. It may be mentioned that BAF has deployed three helicopters in Ivory Coast (ONUCI). Bangladesh Air Force achieved’ confidence and respect of Ivory Coast Government and general public by discharging their duties in mitigating conflict with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity. Special Monajat was offered seeking excellence and success for the contingents at departure lounge of the Hazrat Shahjahal International Airport (HSIA) prior to their departure for Ivory Coast. Senior BAF officers were present at the airport and saw them off. Earlier, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari briefed the contingent members at BAF Base Bashar on 03 Mar 2014 and offered special Munajat for success of the mission.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE ANNUAL WINTER EXERCISE WINTEX-2014 BEGINS

BRIEF BY CHIEF OF AIR STAFF TO THE CONTINGENT MEMBERS OF IVORY COAST

Dhaka, March 03:- Bangladesh Air Force is going to replace its contingent deployed in United Nations Mission, Ivory Coast (ONUCI). In this regard Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari briefed the members of BANAIR-5 at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar, Dhaka Cantonment today Monday (03-03-2014). Addressing on the occasion Chief of Air Staff advised them to perform their duties with honesty, professionalism & sincerity and uphold the reputation and honour of Bangladesh Air Force as well as the country. Later on, a special munajat was offered for success of the mission.

Among others Principal Staff Officer and senior BAF officers of Air Headquarters and base attended the programme. It is mentionable that a total of 03 Bell-212 helicopters alongwith 104 members of the contingent are deployed to Ivory Coast.

4TH DUTCH BANGLA BANK GOLF TOURNAMENT-2014 INAUGURATED IN BAF BASE ZAHURUL HAQUE

Chittagong, February 28:– The inauguration ceremony of 4th Dutch Bangla Bank Golf Tournament-2014 was held today, Friday (28-2-20 14) at Shaheen Golf and Country Club of BAF Base Zahurul Haque, Patenga, Chittagong. Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Zahurul Haque Air Commodore Md Humayun Kabir inaugurates the Tournament. Competition will be held in 18 hole, 9 hole, junior and ladies categories. Among others, senior officers of local base, Senidr Vice President of Dutch Bangla Bank Mr. Syed Mahmud Akhter and participants were present on the occasion.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE CHIEF RETURNS FROM SINGAPORE

Dhaka, February 15:- Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari returns from Singapore on Saturday (15-02-2014) after taking part in 4th Singapore Air show-2014 on the occasion of 45th Anniversary of RSAF. He was invited by the Chief of Republic of Singapore Air Force. During visit Chief of Air Staff attended Asia Pacific Security Conference and Singapore Airspace Technology and Engineering Conference.

He also called on Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Singapore Teo Chee Hean including chief of Singapore, India, Royal Saudi and Royal Brunei Air Force and other senior military and civil officials from different participating countries on bilateral issues. Besides, he witnessed ravishing aerial display of different aircraft in the Air show and visited pavilions of participating Air space Technology and Engineering companies during the visit, It is expected that the visit of Chief of Air Staff will play an important role for strengthening the existing friendly relationship between Armed Forces of two countries as well as help BAF in planning to induct new aircraft and technology in future.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE OBSERVES DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF SHAHEED SERGEANT ZAHURUL HAQUE

Chittagong, February 15:- Bangladesh Air Force observed the 45th death anniversary of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque with due solemnity today, Saturday (15-2-2014). On this day in 1969, he was killed by the Pakistani Army when he was detained in the Dhaka Cantonment in connection with the Agartala conspiracy case. On the occasion a milad mahfil was arranged at the central mosque of Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque after Fazr prayer seeking the divine blessing for departed soul of the deceased and also for the continued peace and prosperity of the country. Air Officer Commanding of the Base Air Commodore Md Humayun Kabir, Officers, airmen and other members of the base attended the Milad Mahfil.

ANNUAL SPORTS AND PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY OF BAF SHAHEEN ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL HELD

Dhaka, February 08:- The Annual Sports and Prize Giving Ceremony 2013-2014 of BAF Shaheen English Medium School (SEMS) was held at School premises today Saturday (08-2-2014). Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bashar Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners of annual sports competition. On this occasion the Chief Guest applauded the remarkable feat attained by the students of the school. He expressed hope that the school would continue this prosperous trend in future. Senior BAF officers, principal, teachers, parents and students of the school were present in the ceremony.

PEACE TIME MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY HELD IN BANGLADESH AIR FORCE

Dhaka, February 06:- To boost up the morale of Armed Forces personnel and inspire for outstanding contribution, the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has taken a step to award medal for their bravery and distinguished role both during war time and peace time with an approval of Honorable President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. In this connection, for the first time a medal award ceremony for outstanding contribution during peace time was held in an auspicious occasion at Air Headquarters today Thursday (06-2-2014).

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and handed over the medals to 15 BAF officers and 02 airmen in 04 different categories. Amongst 04 categories under “Distinguished Service Medal” category 05 BAF officers were awarded medals for performing special role for BAF as well as the nation or outstanding contribution during any adverse situation of the country or taking any admirable step for the interest of BAF and the nation as well.

Under “Glorious Flying Medal” category 03 BAF pilots were awarded medals for showing bravery, efficiency, controlling capacity in any risky and adverse situation and remarkable contribution in flying within the country and in UN mission. Under “Air Excellence Medal” category 03 outstanding BAF officers and 01 airman were awarded medals for their well manners, professionalism and firmness which make them exceptional from their fellows and for their extraordinary contribution, struggling against adverse situation and playing special role in inventing new system of work in home and abroad.

Under “Air Efficiency Medal” category 04 outstanding BAF officers and 01 airman were awarded medals for playing an important role in developing BAF as well as the country by applying their merit, research works of development published in any national or international mass media or playing vital role in any training or exercise of BAF. Mentionable that this year a total of 37 BAF officers and airmen received medals in different categories.

Chief of Air Staff congratulated and thanked the recipients for their outstanding contribution and hoped that their achievement would boost up the morale of BAF personnel and inspire others to perform such kind of activities in future which would help BAF to complete its modernization and expansion programme successfully. Amongst others PSO, Directors and others senior BAF officers and airmen were present in the ceremony.

1ST UNILEVER CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT-2014 HELD

Chittagong, February 01:- The 1st Unilever Cup Golf Tournament.-2014 held today, Saturday (01-02-2014) at Shaheen Golf and Country Club, Patenga, Chittagong. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Vice Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat witnessed the tournament as Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners.Mentionable that Mr. Shawpan Bhattacharya, General Factory Manager, Unilever Bangladesh Ltd attended the ceremony as a special guest.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE CHIEF RETURNS FROM MYANMAR

Dhaka, February 01: – Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari returns from Myanmar on Saturday (01-02-2014) after completion of an official visit. He was invited by Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar Air Force. During visit Chief of Air Staff called on Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar Air Force and other senior military and civil officials of Myanmar and exchanged views on bilateral issues. Besides, he visited Defence Service Academy, Defence Service Technology Academy and various military and civil installations of Myanmar. It is expected that the visit of Chief of Air Staff will play an important role in strengthening the existing friendly relationship between Armed Forces of two countries.

DEPLOYMENT OF BAF C-130B TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT IN UN PEACEKEEPING MISSION, DR CONGO

Dhaka, January 27:- A C-130B transport aircraft with a team of BAF personnel led by Gp Capt Mohammad Shafqat Ali landed at Dhaka after completion of deployment procedure of another C-130B transport aircraft in UN peacekeeping mission DR Congo on 24 January 2014. Mentionable that this aircraft was deployed at Bangladesh Air Transport Unit in UN peacekeeping mission on 25 June 2010.

Since deployment in DR Congo the aircraft launched various UN peacekeeping operational missions in Uganda, Burundi and Zuba, South Sudan beside DR Congo. Remarkable operational mission includes various duties for national election of DR Congo, troops insertion, transportation of oversize cargo, food supply and troops rotation flights etc. Bangladesh Air Transport Unit earned a Certificate of Appreciation in 2012 from the Force Commander for their remarkable contribution by the contingent for overall support in peacekeeping operation including national election in DR Congo.

The aircraft successfully flew about 2000 hours which shows the discreetness and professionalism of BAF personnel. This achievement not only earns foreign currency but also enhances the reputation of BAF as well as Bangladesh in international arena. For the purpose of handing and taking over procedure the aircraft departed for DR Congo on 14 January 2014. At the time of departure and arrival senior BAF officers of Air Headquarters, BAF Base Bangabandhu and Bashar were present.

CERTIFICATE AWARD CEREMONY OF BANGLADESH AIR FORCE JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE HELD

Dhaka, January 21: – The certificate award ceremony of No. 94 Junior Command and Staff Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Bangladesh Air Force Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI) at Dhaka Cantonment today, Tuesday (21-01-2014). Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Vice Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, ndu, psc attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed certificates and trophy among the graduating officers. 13 officers from Bangladesh Air Force, 01 officer each from Indian Air Force, Royal Jordanian Air Force, Royal Malaysian Air Force and Sri Lanka Air Force attended the course.

Flight Lieutenant D Mathew of Indian Air Force was awarded with the “Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy” for his best performance in the course. While addressing, Assistant Chief of Air Staff thanked the government of participating countries for sending student officers in this course and hoped that they would continue to send their officers in future as well. Earlier, in the welcome address, the Officer Commanding of the institute, Group Captain M Rabiul Islam Sikder, psc gave a brief resume on the course curriculum. Among others, Air Officer Commanding BAF Base Bashar, High Commissioner of Sri Lankan High Commission, Head of Chancery; Malaysian High Commission, Defence Attaché of Indian High Commission and senior BAF Officers were present.

ANNUAL PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY AND CULTURAL PROGRAMME OF BAF SHAHEEN COLLEGE SHAMSHERNAGAR CONCLUDES

Shamshernagar, January 18:- Annual prize giving ceremony and cultural programme-2014 of BAF Shaheen College, Shamshernagar concluded at the college sports ground on Saturday (18-01-2014). Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bashar Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan was present on the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the meritorious students and enjoyed colourful cultural programme. Among others senior BAF officers, Principal of the college, teachers, students and their guardians were present on the occasion.

ROYAL AIR FORCE OF UK CONDUCTED QUALIFIED WEAPON INSTRUCTORS COURSE24-2014

Dhaka, January 16:- Qualified Weapon Instructors’ (QWI) course was conducted by Royal Air Force of UK for the fighter pilots of Bangladesh Air Force at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu, Kurmitola. The course commenced on 12 January 2014 for duration of 5 days. Involved course two instructor pilots of Royal Air Force imparted modern concepts pertaining to different tactics of various fighting elements used in fighter aircraft. The lessons derived from this course would definitely help the fighter pilots of Bangladesh Air Force in conducting any air battle in future.

Air Commodore M Mafidur Rahman of Bangladesh Air Force, as Chief Guest, gave away the certificates at the course ending ceremony on 16 January 2014. In his speech, Chief Guest mentioned that this couse would enhance the skills required for tactical platform operators (fighter pilots) of Bangladehs Air Force and increase the bondage between two friendly nations. A total of 20 student-officers of BAF attended the course. Chief Guest thanked British High Commission, Foreign Instructors, Air Officer Commanding and all personnel related to the course for successful completion of the course. Among others, Deputy British High Commissioner, Defence Advisor of British High Commission, senior BAF officers from Air Headquarters and other officers of the base were present on the occasion.

TEXTBOOK DISTRIBUTION FESTIVAL HELD IN BANGLADESH AIR FORCE

Jessore, January 02:- Textbook distribution festival was observed at Bangladesh Air Force Shaheen School and College, Jessore, today, Thursday (02-01-2014) as the part of National Textbook Distribution Festival. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc attended the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed the textbook to the students. With new books students celebrated the day in a festive mood. The Chief Guest thanked all concerned for their effort to complete the occasion successfully. Jessore, January 02:- Certificate award ceremony of No 46 Flying Instructors’ Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Shreshto Matiur Rahman, Jessore, today, Thursday (02-01-2014). Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed certificates among 08 student-officers. In his speech the Chief Guest mentioned that now student officers are the part of respectable group of instructors which will enable them to train the ab-initio students into defender of the sky of beloved motherland. Squadron Leader Malik Arif Russd, GD(P) was adjudged the best all-round student-officer and was awarded with the prestigious ‘Mofiz Trophy’. Officer Commanding of Flying Instructors’ School (FIS) Wing Commander Abu Zahid Mohsin, afwc, psc gave a brief resume on the courses conducted by the School. Among others, Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bir Shreshto Matiur Rahman, senior officers from Air Headquarters, BangI Army and from the host base were also present on the occasion. Earlier, on his arrival in the base, the Chief of Air Staff was received by Air Officer Commanding of the base.
