GRADUATION DEGREE CERTIFICATE AWARD
CEREMONY HELD AT BANGLADESH AIR FORCE ACADEMY

Jessore, October 14 :-  The Graduation Degree Certificate Award Ceremony of No 62 and 63 Officers’ Courses was held at Bangladesh Air Force Academy auditorium at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Shreshtho Matiur Rahman, Jessore today, Sunday (14-10-2012).

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed the Bachelor of Science (Aeronautics) and Bachelor of Business Studies (Pass) degree certificates among the officers.

A total of thirty six officers appeared in B.Sc. (Aeronautics) examination and in the BBS (Pass) for a duration of three years under the Bangladesh University of Professional (BUP). Of them 33 officers appeared in B.Sc. (Aeronautics) examination and 03 officers appeared in the BBS (Pass). All of them obtained first division. Pilot Officer Md Mostafizur Rahman of No 62 officers’ course and Pilot Officer Waqar Younus of No 63 officers’ course were adjudged the best in academics and were awarded with ‘Osmani Gold Medal’ in their respective course.

Speaking to the officers on the occasion, Chief of Air Staff said that being a technology driven force officers of Bangladesh Air Force need to have solid foundation on the basics of aerial warfare to keep pace with the ever changing technology. He further said that there is no alternative to enhance professionalism through acquiring knowledge and effective training to maintain war-fighting skills. Bangladesh Air Force was committed in serving the nation as well as promoting global peace and stability, he added.

Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operation and Training) Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professional (BUP) Major General Abul Kalam Md Humayun Kabir, Commandant of Military Institute of Science and Technology Major General Abul Hossain, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division Major General Rezanur Rahman Khan and senior officers of Armed Forces were present in the occasion.

SQUASH COMPETITION OF BANGLADESH AIR FORCE CONCLUDES

Chittagonj, October 10:-  Inter- Base Squash Competition of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) concluded at Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque today Wednesday (10-10-12).

In the competition Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque team clinched the title while Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar team became runners-up.In the final match, Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque team defeated Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar team by 03-0 sets. Flight Lieutenant Ruth Jannath of Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque team was adjusted best player of the competition. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operation and training) Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar witnessed the final match as chief guest and later gave away prizes among the winners.

BAFWWA STIPEND HANDED OVER

Dhaka, October 04:-  Bangladesh Air Force Women Welfare Association (BAFWWA) stipend has been handed over to 208 meritorious students for their out standing performance in SSC, HSC, ‘0’ level and ‘A’ level examination held in 2012.

Wife of Chief of Air Staff and BAFWWA President Begum Mary Enam handed over the cheques of stipend ceremonially as chief guest at Falcon Hall, Tejgaon today, Thursday (04-10-20 12).A total of 59 student got golden GPA-5 in SSC and HSC examination and a total of 145 students got GPA-5 in SSC and HSC examination this year. On the other hand, 04 students got ‘A’ grade marks in ‘0’ level and ‘A’ level examination this year. Mentionable that all these students are the children of BAF members.Students who got golden GPA in SSC and HSC examination received taka 2000/= and 3000/= each respectively and students who got GPA-5 in SSC and HSC examination received taka 1000/= and 2000/= respectively. Also, 04 students received taka 2000/= and 3000/= each for their brilliant result in ‘0’ level and ‘A’ level examination this year.

Mentionable, BAFWWA executives, senior BAF officers, Principals of respective schools colleges and guardians of stipend recipients were present in the occasion.

BANGLADESH AIR FORCE REPLACES CONTINGENT AT DR CONGO

Dhaka, October 02:-  Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is going to replace a BAF contingent at United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo(MONUSCO).

Presently deployed three Bangladesh Air Force units in DR Congo will be replaced by more three new units. The contingent consists of 356 Bangladesh Air Force members including 77 officers. Out of 77 officers, this time total 9 female officers are proceeding for the Peacekeeping Mission. As part of this programmed a 80-member BAF team left Dhaka for Congo by UN chartered aircraft on Tuesday night. Remaining contingent members will leave Dhaka for Congo by 22 October 2012 in different flights.

The contingent is comprised of Bangladesh Utility Aviation Unit, Bangladesh Air Field Services Unit and Bangladesh Air Transportation Unit led by Group Captain Muhammad Sayeedul Hasan Khan, Group Captain Muhammad Parvez Islam and Group Captain Md Badrul Amin respectively.Mentionable, Bangladesh Air Force achieved confidence and respect of Congo Government and general public by discharging their duties in mitigating conflict with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity. Monajat was offered seeking more excellence of the contingents in future at departure lounge of the Hazrat Shahjahal International Airport (HSIA) prior to their departure for Congo.Senior Bangladesh Air Force officers were present at the airport and saw them off. Earlier, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari briefed the contingent members at BAF Base Bashar on 23 September 2012 and offered special munajat for success of the mission.

NATIONAL STANDARD AWARD TO BANGLADESH AIR FORCE BASE BASHAR

Dhaka, Sep 27:- Honourable President and Supreme Commander of Bangladesh Armed Forces Md Zillur Rahman awarded National Standard to Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar today, Thursday (27-9-2012) at Dhaka Cantonment.

On his arrival at the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar, the President was received by Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari and Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar Air Commodore Md Naim Hassan.
Bangladesh Air Force started it’s glorious journey from this Base Bashar since post 1971 Liberation War. The Bashar Base contributed to the quick organizing of Bangladesh Air Force and started conducting air operations since the inception of Bangladesh Air Force. Later, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inducted MiG-21 fighter aircraft, AN-24 transport aircraft and Mi-8 helicopter in Air Force’s inventory and these aircraft successfully conducted flying from this Base.

At present, Bangladesh Air Force is performing different responsibilities both at home and international arena. Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar is actively and regularly contributing to accomplish these responsibilities. Besides, it’s routine flying activities, Base Bashar conducts the operations related to national and international disaster management, national election, VVIPIVIP missions and specially helps in sending Air Force contingents in United Nations Peace Keeping operations in different countries around the globe. Today, National Standard Award was handed over to Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar for all these versatile contributions at national and international level.

During the National Standard Award ceremony, Hon’ble President witnessed the parade at the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar. The parade was commanded by Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam. During the parade, Hon’ble President was given ‘President Salute’ and three ‘Cheer up’ echo. Thereafter, a helicopter past with National Flag was conducted in honour of National Standard. Then special monajat was offered for the preservation of honour of National Standard award.
Later, while addressing to all ranks of Bangladesh Air Force, Hon’ble President recalled with rich tribute Bir Sreshto Flight Lieutenant M Matiur Rahman for his supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation during 1971 Liberation War. He further mentioned that the nation will remember the valiant contribution of the members of Air Force during the Liberation War. Hon’ble President added that the achievement of this National Standard Award will be upheld by the members of Bangladesh Air Force in future. Then he urged all ranks of Bangladesh Air Force to uplift further the image of Bangladesh Air Force with patriotism, sincerity and discipline.

On the occasion, Hon’ble President signed a Visitor’s book there. At the end Hon’ble President attended a photography session with the selected senior officers of Armed Forces and Airmen.On the occasion, Hon’ble Ministers, State Ministers, Advisers, Chief of Army Staff General lqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin.

BAF OBSERVES FORMER AIR CHIEF AIR VICE MARSHAL BASHAR’S DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Dhaka, September 01:- Bangladesh Air Force observed the 36th death anniversary of the former Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Khademul Bashar, Bir Uttam, today Saturday (01-9-2012) with due solemnity. Air Vice Marshal Bashar possesses the rare dignity of commanding the 6th sector during liberation war of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Air Force remembers this freedom fighter for his glorious contribution in achieving independence and building of Bangladesah Air Force with due respect and honour. This brave pilot died on 01 September 1976 in a tragic plane accident.

On this occasion mahfil-e-milad was arranged at the central mosques of BAF Base Bashar and BAF Base Kurmitola after Asr prayers respectively. Munajat was also offered seeking divine blessings for salvation of the departed soul and for the continued peace and prosperity of the country.Senior BAF officers and a good number of Airmen and civilian employees were present in the mahfil.

Dhaka, August 30: – The certificate award ceremony of No. 90 Junior Command and Staff Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at BAF Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI) at Dhaka Cantonment today, Thursday (30-08-2012).
Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations & Training) Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar attended the ceremony as chief guest and distributed certificates among the graduating officers. 10 officers from Bangladesh Air Force, 01 each officer from Indian Air Force, Sri Lankan Air Force and Malaysian Air Force attended the course. Squadron Leader Shaikh Ferdous Mahmud of Bangladesh Air Force was awarded with the “Chief of Air Staffs Trophy” for his best performance in the course.
Addressing the student-officers on the occasion Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations & Training) Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar said, the Command and Staff functions in any Air Force around the world are most delicate and different–often demanding high-end planning, precision, coordination and preparation. As an Air Staff or Commander, you will be challenged to your limits. Therefore, it is absolutely essential to attain high level of competence for which you need to be effectively trained to meet those challenges squarely.

In the addressing, he thanked the government of participating countries for sending student officers in this course and hoped that they would continue to send their officers in future as well.Earlier, in the welcome address, the Officer Commanding of the institute Group Captain Kh Sazzadur Rahim gave a brief resume on the courses curriculum.Among others, Indian Assistance Defence Attaché Squadron Leader H S Sidhu, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Dhaka W A Sarath Kumar Weraguda, Second Secretary of Malaysian High Commission Ahmed Fikri and senior BAF Officers were present on the occasion.

BAF OBSERVES FLIGHT LIEUTENANT MATIUR RAHMAN,
BIR SHRESHTHO’S DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Dhaka, August 20:- Bangladesh Air Force observed the death anniversary of Shaheed Flight Lieutenant M Matiur Rahman, Bir Shreshtho today, Monday (20-8-2012) with due solemnity.On this occasion mahfil-e-milad was arranged at the central mosques at all BAF Bases after Eid-ul-Fitre prayer. His noble sacrifice in the War of Liberation in 1971 was remembered with high esteem. Munajat was also offered seeking divine blessings of the departed soul of the deceased and for the continued peace and prosperity of the country. In the milad mahfil, officers and members of all ranks of the Bangladesh Air Force were present.

Today at noon Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Vice Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat visited the grave of Matiur Rahman at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard at Mirpur and offered munajat for the salvation of the departed soul of Shaheed Flight Lieutenant M Matiur Rahman. Wife of Flight Lieutenant M Matiur Rahman, Bir Shreshtho, Milee Rahman was present on the occasion.

AIR CHIEF RETURNS HOME FROM RUSSIA

Dhaka, 14 August: – Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari returned home on 14 August 2012 (Tuesday) after a 05-day official visit to Russia.In his visit, Air Chief attended the celebration of “ 100th Anniversary of Air Forces of Russia”. Air Chief of different countries, representative, senior military and civil officers attended in the celebration.Besides, he called on the participating Air Chiefs of different countries, senior officers and discuss on various issues related to bilateral co-operation and mutual interests.It is expected that this visit of Air Chief will play an important role for strengthening the existing relations between Bangladesh Air Force and Russian Air Force.

AIR CHIEF LEAVES FOR RUSSIA

Dhaka, 08 August: – Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, left Dhaka for Russia on Wednesday (08-8-2012) for a five-day official visit at the invitation of C-in-C of Air Forces of Russian Federation. In his visit, Air Chief will attend the celebration of “100th Anniversary of Air Forces of Russia”. Air Chief of different countries, representative, senior military and civil officers will attend in the celebration. Besides, he will call on the participating Air Chiefs of different countries, senior officers and discuss on various issues related to bilateral co-operation and mutual interests. It is expected that this visit of Air Chief will play an important role for strengthening the existing relations between Bangladesh Air Force and Russian Air Force.

INDIAN AIR FORCE DELEGATION TEAM CALLS ON AIR CHIEF

Dhaka, July 11:- A four members Indian Air Force delegation team led by Assistant Chief of Air Staff (PA & C) Air Vice Marshal SRK Nair called on Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari at Air Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment today, Wednesday (11-07-12).They remained with the Air Chief for some time and discussed on matters of professional interest. Indian Air Force delegation team visited at BAF Base Bir Sreshtho Matiur Rahman and BAF Base Kurmitola.

Dhaka, July 05:- The certificate award ceremony of No. 49 Flight Safety Officers’ Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Flight Safety Institute (FSI) at Dhaka Cantonment today, Thursday (05-07-2012)Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Vice Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat attended the ceremony as chief guest and distributed certificates among the student-officers. Six officers from Bangladesh Air Force, three officers from Royal Jordanian Air Force, one each officers from Indian Air Force, Sri Lanka Air Force, Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy attended the course. Flight Lieutenant Syed Monir Hasan of Bangladesh Air Force was awarded the “Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy” for his best performance in the course.

Addressing to the student-officers on the occasion the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) said, “Your experience and sincere contribution in the field of safety will be tested by your timely anticipation and prompt action”. He advised the student-officers to share the knowledge that they have acquired and exploit it further to refine their talent through dedication and innovative idea in promoting safety. Referring to the overseas student-officers’ participation, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) expressed his firm conviction that the mutual sense of solidarity and friendship would further be cemented in future through such participation.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Officer Commanding of the Flight Safety Institute (FSI) Group Captain Muhammad Belal gave a brief resume on the different courses conducted by FSl. Among others, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr. Sarath Kumar Weragoda and senior Officers of Armed Forces were present on the occasion.

Dhaka, June 12: Newly appointed Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc took over the command of Bangladesh Air Force this afternoon, Tuesday (12-6-2012). He replaced previous Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman, ndc, fawc, psc.

A handing over/taking over ceremony was held at 1415 hours at Air Headquarters this afternoon. Newly appointed Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari took over the command of Bangladesh Air Force from the out going Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman by signing handing over/taking over book ceremonially at Chief of Air Staff’s Office. Principal Staff Officers of Air Headquarters were present in the occasion. Earlier in the morning out going Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman visited Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment and placed floral wreath to pay homage to the members of Armed Forces martyred during the War of Liberation in 1971. He also signed visitors’ book there.

Later, on arrival at Air Headquarters Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out BAF Contingent. He inspected the guard and took salute. At the end, he planted a sapling at Air Headquarters premises.

Jessore, July 01:- Certificate award ceremony of No 44 Flying Instructors Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at BAF Base Bir Sreshtho Matiur Rahman, Sunday (01-07-2012). Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari attended the ceremony as chief guest and distributed certificates among the student-officers. 10 Officers from Bangladesh Air Force took part in the course. Squadron Leader Mahmud Ahmed of Bangladesh Air Force was adjudged the  best all-round student-officer and was awarded with the ‘Mofiz Trophy’.

Speaking on the occasion Chief of Air Staff said that the dignity, honour and duty attached to a qualified flying instructor demands selfless dedication, exemplary professionalism, patience and proficiency. BAF relies on the service of each qualified flying instructor in making new pilots. He also urged upon the new Instructors to comprehend the responsibility and expectations attached to such sacred task and forge a receptive and co-operative working relationship with the trainees to impart the training.

Earlier, Officer Commanding of Flying Instructors’ School (FIS) Wing Commander Md Asadul Karim gave a brief resume on the courses conducted by Flying Instructors’ School. Among others, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations and Training) Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar, Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bir Sreshtho Matiur Rahman, Air Commodore Md Anwarul Haque Sardar and senior BAF officers were present on the occasion.

Dhaka, June 28 :- Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army General lqbal Karim Bhuiyan called on Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari at Air Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment today, Thursday (28-06-2012). During call on, he spent some time with the Air Chief, exchanged greetings and discussed on matters of professional interest. Later Chief of Army Staff was briefed on different activities of Bangladesh Air Force. He also signed visitors’ book in Air Headquarters.

Earlier, on arrival at Air Headquarters Chief of Army Staff General lqbal Kanim Bhuiyan was received by Chief of Air Staff and he was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out BAF Contingent. SUMMER GRADUATION PARADE HELD AT BAF ACADEMY

Jessore, June 24:- Summer Graduation Parade marking the commissioning of No 65 Flight Cadet Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Jessore at the BAF Academy today, Sunday (24-06-2012).

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari attended the ceremony as chief guest. He reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute at the impressive march past. He handed over awards, certificates and flying badges among the Flight Cadets.

Flight Cadet Wing Under Officer Benaul Karim was presented with the coveted ‘Sword of Honour’ for his best all round performance in No 65 Flight Cadet Course. Flight Cadet Sergeant Tanjim Faruque Tanoy received “Commandant’s Trophy” for his best performance in General Service Training. Flight Cadet Md Shohanur Rahman awarded with “Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Trophy” for his best performance in Flying Training. Flight Cadet Sergeant Tanjim Faruque Tanoy received “Chief of Air Staffs Trophy’ for his best all round performance in 65 Flight Cadet Course (Ground Branch). Meanwhile, the Number 1 Squadron was adjudged the Champion Squadron and was given Academy Colour.

Addressing on the occasion Chief of Air Staff said that newly commissioned officers will be entrusted with the sacred responsibility to uphold the image of national flag which was earned through lot of sacrifice. He wished that newly commissioned officers will practice and exploit the training provided by the academy and turn themselves as a true professional of Air Force. He also advised the young officers to implement the training value in practical life and work with utmost honesty, sincererity, dedication and transform themselves as a future leader of Air Force. In his speech, Chief of Air Staff, remembered Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the father of the nation with profound gratitude.

A total of 22 Flight Cadets including 05 female cadets were commissioned this time. Flight Cadet Wing Under Officer Benaul Karim commanded the parade. Earlier, on his arrival at the ceremony Chief of Air Staff was received by Air Officer Commanding of the local Base Air Commodore Md. Anwarul Haque Sardar. Among others, high civil and military officials, diplomats, parents and guardians of the cadets were present on the occasion.

INTER SERVICE QUIRAT AND AZAN CONCLUDES

Dhaka, June 12 Inter Service Quirat and Azan Competition concluded at the central mosque of BAF Base Kurmitola , Friday (15-6-2012).

Bangladesh Army team clinched the title of the meet while Bangladesh Navy team became runners-up. Leading Seaman Md Owali Ullah of Bangladesh Navy team secured first position in Quirat and Sainik Shah Alam of Bangladesh Army team secured first position in Azan competition. Meanwhile Sergeant Md Abdul Malek of Bangladesh Army team secured second position in Quirat and Leading Seaman Md Abu Lais of Bangladesh Navy team secured second position in Azan competition.

Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operation) Rear Admiral M Farid Habib distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up as chief guest. Earlier Air Officer Commanding of the local Base Air Commodore Ehsanul Gani Choudhury inaugurated the Competition as chief guest on 12 June 2012.

Dhaka, June 07:- Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Raman inaugurated Tree Plantation Programme of Bangladesh Air Force by planting a Safeda sapling at Air Headquarters premises, Thursday (07-6-2012). Principal Staff Officers of Air Headquarters and Senior BAF Officers also participated in the tree plantation programme. Similar programme is also taken in different BAF establishment and Base areas. Bangladesh Air Force Women Welfare Association will also take part in tree plantation programme. Mentionable that like previous year this year also Bangladesh Air Force has chalked out an elaborate tree plantation programme. This year’s programme included planting of saplings of herbal, fruit bearing, shade giving and other varieties of trees having timber value.
