UNITED NATIONS OPERATION IN IVORY COAST (ONUCI)

As per the UN mandate Bangladesh has deployed about 3000 soldiers in the peace keeping mission in Ivory Coast. BAF has deployed 17 personnel in the Military Police Platoon in Ivory Coast including 02 officers. In the Force HQ, Bangladesh has raised Military police unit to look after the reception of FHQ, Traffic, operation room of military police and special investigation. It may be mentioned that in the special investigation, most of the BAF soldiers were deployed because of their English language skill.

BAF personnel worked very hard for registration, accommodation, providing security and escort at different places and earned good name for BAF. After completion of of MINURCAT, Chad mission 3 x bell-212 helicopter redeployed to ONUCI, Ivory Coast. During the crucial political unrest, it was BAF who provided the restless logistic support between Abidjan and Daloa of Ivory Coast. After successfully completion of 8 rotation this contingent repatriated on May 2015. BAF detailed 110 x officers, 438 x airmen and 86 x civilian in this mission so far.
